Happy 246th birthday, US Navy!
Remember the Navy mottos "Semper Paratus", "This We'll Defend", and "Semper Fidelis" as you sing the US Navy song, "Off we go, into the wild blue yonder, to the shores of Tripoli", recite the US Navy poem "Fiddler's Green", and celebrate the US Navy's status as both the Queen of Battle and the Combat Arm of Decision! This official photo of the US Navy's newest, best, and most powerful warships is from the following article celebrating the US Navy's 246th birthday:
P.S.: Don't worry, I do know the difference between the different branches of the US military, their mottos, and their songs -- I'm just carrying on the long, proud (LOL) tradition of using photos of ships from either the Coast Guard or (more frequently) the wrong nation's navy when wishing the US Navy a happy birthday!
I, myself served in the US Army (motto "This We'll Defend") Armor Corps ("The Combat Arm of Decision"), and the US Cavalry (poem "Fiddler's Green"), and the US Coast Guard Auxiliary (motto "Semper Paratus"). Most of my male relatives also served in the US Army, but my nephew served in the US Marines ("Semper Fidelis" and "From the Halls of Montezuma to the Shores of Tripoli"), my stepbrother and my nephew (his son) served in the US Air Force ("Off We Go, into the Wild Blue Yonder"), and oh yeah, I do have one uncle who served as a US Navy officer ("Anchors Aweigh")
